Herman's wife, Carol, made some beautiful dried flower arrangements. The 4 small arangements are in Midwest Groundcovers coffee mugs and will be raffled off as one prize. Thanks, Carol!

I (Julia) donated a Mia Bella soy candle basket. There is a Simmer Pot, which you can melt "tarts" or "Mia Melts" in. Instead of a tea light candle, it comes with a lightbulb. It's perfect for those with children! Also included in the basket is a Christmas ornament, a notepad and a candle in the scent of Home For The Holidays. The candles do not leave a black soot in the jar and burn clean down. Also donated was a Christmas hat box with 6 hand painted glass Christmas ornaments. There are 3 small ornaments and 3 large ornaments.

Kevin in Ottawa donated an hour massage from his sister! She will come to your house to give the massage. I have a feeling this will be a big hit! Thanks, Kevin (and his sister!)!

Announcing...

Hello!

The Midwest Companies are pleased to announce our 2 charities for 2007.

Hesed House
Doctors Without Borders

Hesed House:
Hesed House is like a shopping mall of nonprofits serving poor and homeless persons. Within Hesed House is Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Inc., one of the largest food pantries in Illinois, Aurora Soup Kitchen, Inc., which serves nutritious meals to homeless and non-homeless families and individuals, and Public Action to Deliver Shelter, Inc., which has multiple residential and non-residential programs for homeless families and individuals.
Some of the needs of Hesed House are non-perishable food items, baby items, new or gently used clothing for men, women and children (up to a size 4XL), winter coats and jackets, hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, Metra train tickets and bus passes.
For a complete listing of needed items and more information on Hesed House, please visit their website at www.hesedhouse.org.

Doctors Without Borders:

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries.
Each year, MSF doctors, nurses, logisticians, water-and-sanitation experts, administrators, and other medical and non-medical professionals depart on more than 4,700 aid assignments. They work alongside more than 25,800 locally hired staff to provide medical care.
In emergencies and their aftermath, MSF provides essential health care, rehabilitates and runs hospitals and clinics, performs surgery, battles epidemics, carries out vaccination campaigns, operates feeding centers for malnourished children, and offers mental health care. When needed, MSF also constructs wells and dispenses clean drinking water, and provides shelter materials like blankets and plastic sheeting.
Through longer-term programs, MSF treats patients with infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, sleeping sickness, and HIV/AIDS, and provides medical and psychological care to marginalized groups such as street children.
Doctors Without Borders is in need of monetary donations. For more information, please visit their website at www.doctorswithoutborders.org.
